Explore Kid Friendly Miami Miami offers many unique experiences for families with children. Warm weather, beautiful beaches and various activities combine to create memorable moments. Large selections of indoor and outdoor activities are available which are all geared toward youngsters and their accompanying adults. The attractions of Miami promise to keep you and your children excited and interested. Children will enjoy Sally’s Pirate Playground, at Miami’s Seaquarium. This new wet/dry playground is a two-level pirate ship with water blasters, cargo nets, punch bags, and a spiral slide. At Miami’s Monkey Jungle children can hang with hundreds of exotic monkeys in a flourishing Amazonian-style rain forest. Exhibits include spider monkeys, lemurs, and parrots. Even more colorful parrots can be found at Parrot Jungle Island. Kids get up close and personal with more than 200 parrots and macaws. Also included in the park are jungle trails and an exciting petting farm. However, the fun doesn’t stop with the action at the parks. Miami offers museums and more all dedicated to allowing kids to be kids. All aboard for a ride on the “Belle Glade” located at The Gold Coast Railroad Museum. Kids will enjoy boarding the mammoth trains and getting the full experience of riding in a locomotive. Also available are rides on the smaller Link train which is suitable for both children and adults. Since the Museum uses historic rail equipment all of the featured rides become working educational exhibits.
Let children get in touch with their creative sides with a visit to the Miami Children’s Museum. This is the museum in Miami where children can play, learn, imagine, and create. Visitors of all ages are encouraged to play together on one of the many interactive exhibits available. Children can dress in costume and steer a fire truck in the Safety Zone or climb through a two-story sandcastle in the Castle of Dreams. The Sea and Me is an exhibit especially designed for those children under five years old who will enjoy water play and the wall of bubbles.
Additional interactive exhibits can be found at the Miami Museum of Science and Planetarium as well as housing a wildlife center and spectacular planetarium. The wildlife center displays birds of prey that have been injured and are in the process of being rehabilitated so they may be released back into the wild. The Planetarium has been entertaining and educating children of all ages since 1966. Explore the galaxy with the planetarium’s animated live star shows and music-filled laser light shows. More contemporary entertainment can be found at Gameworks, Miami’s massive arcade. Play state-of-the-art games including EA Madden Football and classics like Pac Man. Newer games can also be found at Gameworks which include Dance Dance Revolution and Indy 500. People of all ages are sure to be entertained by this electronic playground. The ideal attraction for rainy days, Gameworks and any of the area movie theatres provide the perfect relief from boredom on rainy days.
