Residential Neighborhoods of South Beach
Residential Neighborhoods of South Beach
While South Beach is a major entertainment and vacation destination for most people with a wide selection of nightclubs, restaurants and hotels it is also an excellent place to live with many options for those who want to live there. South Beach has a number of residential neighborhoods that as of 2005 have the highest property values in Miami Beach. The largest residential area is known as SoFi or South of Fifth and covers an area between the ocean and Biscayne Bay, Fifth Street and South Pointe. Recently a large number of development projects have sprung up in the area.
South Beach continues to attract people from all over. It is a popular destination for international tourists and German is the third most common language in the area after English and Spanish. The most unique feature of South Beach
is the private lifeguard stands which have been colorfully painted and uniquely designed by their owners.
Directly north of Fifth Street there is the neighborhood known as Flamingo Park which has some commercial development, but it is restricted to Alton Road, Washington Avenue and Lincoln Road. The rest of the neighborhood consists pretty much of low rise apartment. One of South Beach’s best public parks, the Flamingo Park, is in this neighborhood which features many sporting options including tennis and basketball courts. However, if you want a neighborhood with a lot of nightlife then this probably isn’t the best option since there is only one nightclub in the neighborhood. However, for those looking for a quiet place to live then this can be an excellent option. Nearby is another neighborhood known as Flamingo West which is a primarily family neighborhood with a lot of single family homes.
If you are looking for a modern style neighborhood then Collins Park is a good option. Many of the buildings in their neighborhood were built in the thirties and fifties giving the place an art deco appearance. Within the neighborhood is the Miami Beach Convention Center and the Bass Museum of Art. Currently this neighborhood is undergoing a lot of changes including plans to build a new public library as well as other city projects. Real estate developers are buying up property and old apartments built in the eighties that still have bars on the windows from the more wild years of South Beach. These old apartments are gradually being converted into condos. The neighborhood also features several high rise buildings on Bay Road and West Avenue that provide more modern condos. Then north of Lincoln Road and near Collins Park there are a number of multifamily residences. On Bay Road there is The Flamingo which is the largest apartment complex in the world.
No matter what your preferences or the type of residence you are seeking, you are bound to find one that matches your needs and price range in South Beach. So if you want to move to a place with great weather, excellent nightlife and plenty of entertainment options then have a look at what South Beach has to offer. You’ll be surprised to see what your options are.
