When the weather gets bad and you want a chance to spend a sun filled weekend someplace else having fun, then South Beach is the place to go. It is an ideal location for those who want a vacation in the sun with plenty of activities to pass the time. South Beach, Florida is a location that has everything you need including hotels for various price ranges, nightclubs of every type, excellent restaurants and lovely beach views.

Getting to South Beach, Florida isn’t difficult. All the major airlines including American, Continental and Delta offer flights from New York to Miami International Airport which is very close to South Beach, these flights depart almost hourly. If you are looking for a cheaper way to get to South Beach then you could consider flying into Fort Lauderdale on a JetBlue flight and then driving down to South Beach. A round trip to South Beach in January will cost you close to two hundred dollars.


Once you arrive in South Beach you will need to find a method of transportation. You don’t have to worry about the added cost of renting a car in South Beach since you can simply walk or catch a cab to get wherever you need to go.


Everyone knows that during the night time South Beach comes alive and you can stay up all night if you want traveling between the most popular nightclubs around. However, what do you do once the sun comes up and you want to do something? Of course many travel to South Beach for the beach and no matter what your tastes you can find an area of beach that will meet it. The beach near Sixth Street is popular with the athletic crowd because of the volleyball courts there. Between Eighth and Tenth Streets the beaches are normally filled with the teenage crowd. Hotel supplied lounge chairs for the tourists fill the beaches between Seventeenth and Twentieth. However, beside the beach there are plenty of indoor options you can do at South Beach. Including several museums and theaters. If you are looking for a great book to read while you lounge on the beach then you should go to Books and Books which is located on Lincoln Road. Here you can find a wide selection of books ranging from the classics on up to the latest bestsellers.


There are many boutique shops that you can visit in South Beach. However, much of the items can easy be bought elsewhere so it is up to you if you want to purchase them in South Beach or wait until you get home. There is also the option of spending your days just strolling around and enjoying the sights. The Beach Walk and Boardwalk offers a great tree lined promenade that runs from Fourteenth Street to Forty-Seventh Street and gives excellent views of the ocean. Or if you are the computer type then you can go to the Juice Zone on Collins Avenue where you can spend your days enjoying a fruit drink and surfing the internet.
